Third UN Worker Dies From Disease


 The United Nations has lost another member of staff to the Ebola Virus Disease, a spokesman for the organization revealed on Monday, October 20

A staff of the United Nations in Sierra Leone has died fromEbola, making him the third employee of the organization to succumb to the disease.
The deceased has been identified as Edmond Bangura-Sesay, a driver with the UN Women agency since 2005.
Bangura-Sesay lost his battle with the disease on Saturday, October 18 and his wife is currently receiving treatment while a medical team is working to trace all the people who might have made contact with the driver after he fell ill.
UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric said:
"All measures to protect staff at the duty station in Sierra Leone are being taken as best as possible under the current circumstances,"
A Sudanese health worker with the UN in Liberia died in a German hospital on October 13 while a Liberian employee is also believed to have died of the disease last month.
Ebola has killed 4500 people in the current outbreak and Sierra Leone accounts for over 2000 of that number.
